A nationally recognized federal marketing executive, Mr. Efrus is the founder and chief executive officer of Efrus Federal Advisors LLC, a position he has held since founding the firm in 2013. In this role, he provides federal lobbying, business development, and consulting services to information technology vendors selling software solutions to US government agencies.
Before establishing his own firm, Mr. Efrus served as vice president at Van Scoyoc Associates from 2002 to 2012. During this time, he honed his government relations and business consulting services skills, building a reputation for his expertise in cloud computing, cyber resilience and software development.
Mr. Efrus began his career as a Presidential Management Fellow in the Office of Legislative Affairs at NASA Headquarters. During his time at NASA Mr. Efrus helped to establish NASA’s first Office of Commercial Programs and spent one year on Capitol Hill working for a United States Senator. Mr. Efrus’ greatest accomplishment at NASA was shepherding the Commercial Space Launch Act through the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. This law currently governs all private sector space launch activities.
A graduate of George Washington University, Mr. Efrus earned a Master of Public Administration in business and government relations in 1982 and a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1980. His education provided him with a strong foundation in understanding the intricacies of policy decisions made by Congress and the White House and how these decisions influence federal agency purchasing behavior. His internships at the United States Trade Representative and the Food and Drug Administration Press Office were invaluable learning experiences.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Efrus is actively involved in civic-minded organizations. Since 2004, he has volunteered with Bridges to Community on homebuilding missions, demonstrating his commitment to community service. Additionally, he has been an advocate for the NoVi Trails Network since 2007, promoting local trails for hiking and biking.
Looking back on his achievements, Mr. Efrus is most proud of the language included in the Fiscal 2011, 2013 and 2014 National Defense Authorization Acts requiring the Department of Defense to scan the mission-critical software running the Department of Defense’s mission-critical systems. These laws led directly to the creation of DOD’s Joint Federated Assurance Center, DOD’s lead office for hardware and software supply chain risk management.
Born in New York City, Mr. Efrus is also dedicated to his family life, which includes his wife Nancy and two children (Max and Zoe). Looking ahead, he aims to leverage his extensive experience as a navigator in the Washington, DC, business marketplace by serving on corporate public sector advisory boards. He also seeks to expand his volunteer efforts to promote local trails for hiking and biking as part of his future goals outside of his professional career.
