The EU is setting the framework, the industry is feeling its way forward and ROFA Bekleidungswerk is showing how it can be done: With the Digital Product Passport (DPP), workwear becomes a reliable source of data – for safety, procurement and the circular economy. Together with Narravero, one of the first and leading SaaS companies for the comprehensive implementation of digital product passports, ROFA is demonstrating in a pilot project in collaboration with textil+mode how transparent verification, less paperwork and circular use work in practice.
At A+A in D?sseldorf from November 4-7, both partners (Hall 14 / A40) will show what is already possible today – and why early action creates a head start.
ESPR & DPP: Be prepared instead of surprised
The Ecodesign Regulation (ESPR) is in force and the first product groups – including textiles – are on the starting blocks for DPP obligations. Specific requirements will be gradually introduced to the market via delegated acts from 2027. Testing now will reduce retrofitting costs later and build up expertise–in compliance and in the day-to-day work of Sifa, purchasing and service.
What the digital product passport does at ROFA – designed from practice, for practice
– Transparency & verification:
Material origin, standards and certificates (e.g. warning protection), areas of application, care and recycling options – via QR or NFC directly on the product.
– Documentation without paper:
Audit-proof information for instructions, audit evidence and tenders.
– Cross-selling & supply:
The passport knows the product family. It recommends suitable variants and accessories for each application (e.g. winter lining, combinable items, knee pads, flame-retardant version), supports repeat orders by size/team and can–where desired–be integrated into PIM/ERP. This makes reordering, size management and range maintenance easier – in the factory, in the textile service or in technical retail.
– Interface instead of an island:
The DPP is not another portal, but a touchpoint on the product–compatible with existing company processes.
Live at the A+A: DPP in use
At the leading international trade fair for safe and healthy working in D?sseldorf, ROFA and Narravero will be presenting the joint solution and discussing the question “DPP – Benefit or Burden” as part of a GermanFashion panel. Visitors will experience how workwear becomes a verifiable source of knowledge – and how procurement, Sifa and service benefit from it.
“Even though the digital product passport is currently still a pilot project, we already see it as a real relief in everyday working life. Information can be called up directly, processes are more efficient and communication is more transparent. At the same time, we can provide our customers with additional information in a clear and appealing way – a real added value.”–
