Homebuyer Alleges Unethical Practices by Lennar Builders Over Unreturned $10,000 Deposit
Indio, California – A disabled retired homebuyer with decades of experience in the commercial collections industry has raised serious concerns about Lennar Builders’ handling of a $10,000 deposit. The issue has caused significant financial and emotional stress for the individual and his wife, prompting questions about Lennar Builders’ financial stability and ethical practices.
According to the homeowner, the $10,000 deposit was wired to Lennar Builders as part of a home purchase agreement for a new home in the El Cidro Signature Estates development in Goodyear, Arizona. The purchase was contingent on the closing of the sale of his home in Indio, California. Unfortunately, when the deal fell through in California, the homeowner requested a refund of the earnest money from Lennar. He expected a prompt return of the deposit, especially since it was not held in escrow. Instead, the couple was informed they would need to wait 90 days for a refund. Despite repeated assurances from Lennar representatives – including commitments to provide a check number and mailing details – the promised refund has not been fulfilled.
“This delay is both unreasonable and unacceptable,” the homeowner said. “It has led me to question the financial health of Lennar Builders and their ability to fulfill obligations to their customers.”
The homeowner, who has 40 years of experience in commercial collections, fears that such practices could have devastating effects on Lennar’s core clientele: first-time homebuyers. “For many, this could mean the loss of their life savings, shattering their dream of homeownership,” he added. “It is my firm belief that buyers deserve to be protected from such predatory behavior.”
Call for Public Awareness
The homeowner has decided to take the matter public, citing a responsibility to protect others from similar experiences. He plans to share his story with several prominent media outlets in Phoenix and issue a national press release through Help A Reporter Out (H.A.R.O.) to ensure widespread awareness of his concerns.
The media outlets being contacted include:
KPHO-TV (CBS 5)
KPNX (NBC 12)
KNXV-TV (ABC 15)
KSAZ-TV (FOX 10)
KTVK (3TV)
“The public needs to know about this,” the homeowner stated. “While losing $10,000 is troubling, it won’t prevent me from buying another home. But for others, this could be financially devastating.”
Call for Resolution
The homeowner is urging Lennar Builders to resolve the matter immediately by refunding the deposit in full. He has set a deadline of December 23, 2024 to receive confirmation of the refund before escalating the issue further.
“This is an opportunity for Lennar Builders to demonstrate accountability and resolve this matter amicably,” he concluded. “But their response, or lack thereof, will determine my next steps.”
