Her tenure at Betterment followed a role as a software engineer with Apple’s iWork team from 2022 to 2024, where she played a pivotal part in enhancing productivity tools used by millions worldwide.
Ms. Ellis’s career trajectory also includes her role as a product software engineer at Peloton Interactive in New York for one year. Here, she was involved in developing innovative features for Peloton’s interactive fitness platform. For the preceding three years, she worked as a software engineer for Stash in New York, where she contributed to the development of financial technology solutions aimed at empowering users to manage their investments effectively. Her journey into the world of software engineering began at AdhereTech in New York, where her manager also took on the role of her mentor and guided her through career progression.
Ms. Ellis’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from Hunter College, completed in 2011. Her passion for coding was ignited when she attended the Flatiron School’s Full Stack Web Development Fellowship in 2016, equipping her with the necessary skills to excel in the tech industry. She deeply enjoys learning computer engineering and hopes to continue to advance her knowledge in the upcoming years through working with talented colleagues.
In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Ellis has been an active member of the Club for Women Software Engineers since 2023. In recognition of her achievements, she received the Bletchley Award for Excellence in Software Engineering by the Bletchley Institute in 2024. Her creative endeavors include ongoing projects, such as “Try This,” “DesignCloud,” “New Yorker Reader,” and several others that showcase her innovative spirit.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Ellis enjoys reading, attending theater performances, watching movies at home and visiting history and art museums. Looking toward the future, she aims to continue growing as a software engineer by taking on more responsibilities and leading projects while seeking opportunities to give back to the community.
