Mr. Banse is a distinguished security operations professional, managing security operations at IdeaCrew, a full-service technology consultancy in Washington, D.C., since 2023. Initially joining the organization in 2021, he garnered success as a senior cloud security and DevOps engineer. Leveraging over 15 years of dedication, Mr. Banse came from Prometheus Computing LLC, where he was a senior software engineer working as a contractor at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and UAS Innovation Group between 2016 and 2021, underscoring his leadership and innovation in software engineering.
Before joining Prometheus Computing LLC, Mr. Banse was a software engineer at Systems Plus working as a contractor at NIST from 2015 to 2016 and a guest researcher at NIST between 2011 and 2015. During his 10 year tenure at NIST, he contributed to language and speaker recognition, machine translation, evaluation and technology metrology. He has authored many research papers. Mr. Banse’s early career included roles as a consultant at Capgemini in Nancy, France, from 2009 to 2010, an analyst programmer at Audaxis in Luxembourg in 2008, and a contractor developer at E-media in Strasbourg, France, also in 2008.
Apart from his primary career objectives, Mr. Banse participated as a speaker on hardware integration, computer vision simulation and drone operations at technology conferences. He has also had speaking engagements at security conferences organized by NIST and the U.S. Department of Commerce in 2023, SANS and more, further underscoring his influence in the field.
Mr. Banse is highly educated. He holds a Diplôme Universitaire de Technologie from Institut Universitaire de Technologie de Metz in 2008 and a Master of Science in software engineering from Telecom Nancy in France in 2011. This advanced degree equipped him with the technical skills necessary for his subsequent roles in software engineering and security operations. During his undergraduate years, Mr. Banse was notably recognized with the Best Internship Award from the computer science department.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Mr. Banse has significantly contributed to civic and community initiatives and education. As a contributor and executive action board member of the People-Centered Internet since 2016, he advocated for internet access as a global right and was influential in building artificial intelligence solutions in West Africa. Between 2021 and 2024, he taught drone technology to the U.S. Marine Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, focusing on the physics of flight, building quadcopters and flying techniques. Mr. Banse remains affiliated with Friends of Burkina Faso since 2012, highlighting his commitment to community service and international development.
