Key specs: 2MP (1920 x 1200) | Onsemi AR0234 1/2.6 inch 3.0 µm pixel | Color | Global Shutter | Fixed Focus | 9-Axis IMU | High Performance ISP | USB 3.2 Gen1 | 1080p@60fps / 720p@60fps / VGA@90fps | S-Mount (M12) 74° DFOV / 32° DFOV | Windows / Linux / macOS

Key Capabilities of the Onsemi AR0234 2MP Color Global Shutter USB 3.2 Gen1 Camera

Global Shutter for Motion Free Imaging: Standard rolling shutter USB cameras introduce distortion when capturing fast moving objects, causing skewed or warped images that compromise machine vision accuracy. The Onsemi AR0234 sensor captures a full 2MP (1920 x 1200) global shutter frame, exposing all pixels simultaneously. This eliminates rolling shutter artifacts completely. This advantage directly benefits robotics camera deployments performing high speed pick and place operations traffic monitoring camera systems capturing vehicles at speed and UAV USB camera payloads requiring clear imaging during dynamic flight. The AR0234 color sensor Bayer RGB filter array produces native color output across the full 2MP resolution.

Fixed Focus for Consistent Working Distances: Many industrial USB camera deployments operate at consistent working distances, making autofocus unnecessary and adding mechanical complexity. The Falcon-234CGS 2MP fixed focus USB camera uses a precision S-Mount fixed focus lens calibrated at the factory. This is ideal for security camera deployments in fixed positions for kiosks camera systems with consistent user distances and for medical USB camera devices with calibrated imaging planes.

Native 9-Axis IMU for Sensor Fusion: Robotics and UAV vision systems require spatial awareness combined with image data for navigation stabilization and scene interpretation. Separate IMU modules introduce synchronization challenges and increase board complexity. The Falcon-234CGS embeds a native 9-axis IMU delivering accelerometer gyroscope and magnetometer readings synchronized with each image frame through the USB 3.2 Gen1 data stream. This simplifies the sensor fusion pipeline for AGV camera systems performing simultaneous localization and mapping for drone USB camera payloads requiring image stabilization and for robotics camera systems requiring pose estimation.

Multi Resolution Output: The Falcon-234CGS 2MP AR0234 USB 3.2 Gen1 camera supports selectable output resolutions. Full 2MP mode delivers maximum spatial detail for high resolution inspection. The 1080p USB camera mode delivers full HD video at 60 frames per second, ideal for real time analytics. The 720p USB camera mode supports flexible bandwidth operation. VGA USB camera mode suits lightweight edge inference workloads. This flexibility allows a single camera to serve inspection video analytics navigation and edge AI tiers.

USB 3.2 Gen1 Plug and Play Integration: The AR0234 USB 3.2 Gen1 camera connects directly to any USB 3.2 Gen1 host port on Windows Linux and macOS without additional interface boards. USB class driver support means the Falcon-234CGS operates immediately on connection. This reduces development time for robotics camera product teams traffic monitoring camera system integrators and industrial USB camera deployments where rapid field installation matters.

Compact S-Mount Form Factor: The Falcon-234CGS ships in a compact module footprint with an S-Mount (M12) lens holder that accepts any standard M12 threaded optic. System integrators can select from wide angle lenses for UAV USB camera aerial survey coverage to narrow field optics for precision measurement. The compact form factor enables integration into space constrained platforms including drone USB camera payloads robotics camera head assembly, kiosk enclosures and wearable medical camera devices.

“The AR0234 global shutter sensor has become a standard for motion critical imaging, but many USB camera implementations force engineers to choose between global shutter and color accuracy, providing one without the other. The Falcon-234CGS delivers both in a single USB 3.2 Gen1 module. By combining the AR0234 color camera with a native 9-axis IMU we give robotics and UAV engineering teams a camera that delivers distortion free color imaging and spatial context through one USB connection. That reduces system complexity and accelerates production deployment.” – Alwin Vincent, Product Manager, Vadzo Imaging

Applications

Robotics and Autonomous Systems: For pick and place operations visual servoing and robotic guidance, the Falcon-234CGS delivers 2MP color global shutter imaging with fixed focus and native 9-axis IMU data through a single USB 3.2 Gen1 connection. The AR0234 color camera provides high resolution part identification at consistent working distances without motion blur. The integrated IMU supports pose estimation for AGV camera and robotics USB camera systems.

UAV and Drone Imaging: Aerial platforms need high speed color imaging with onboard inertial data for stabilization and georeferencing. The Falcon-234CGS UAV USB camera and drone USB camera combines 2MP AR0234 global shutter color camera with a native 9-axis IMU output. Global shutters eliminate motion blur during dynamic flights.
