Before founding Scott IT Academy, Ms. Scott served as director of curriculum at The Tech Deputies in San Francisco from 2025 to 2026. In this capacity, she created and edited technical courses while leading a team of curriculum developers. She also served as a technical project manager at The Tech Deputies during the same period, overseeing project execution and ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational content.
From 2024 to 2025, Ms. Scott was a senior software engineering manager and certified product owner at C3 Integrated Solutions, where she managed software engineering teams and contributed to product ownership initiatives. Her expertise in cybersecurity was further demonstrated as a senior cybersecurity engineer at 3D Media from 2023 to 2024.
Between 2021 and 2023, Ms. Scott worked as a principal software security engineer and certified scrum product owner at Ally Bank in Charlotte, North Carolina. She played a pivotal role in advancing software security practices within the organization. Her tenure at Wells Fargo included several key positions: assistant vice president, SSG-information and cyber security in High Point from 2020 to 2021; application security developer, information security engineer 5 in Winston-Salem in 2020; and application systems engineer 6 in High Point from 2019 to 2020.
Ms. Scott’s earlier experience includes serving as senior software engineer at Sensory Analytics in the Greensboro–Winston-Salem–High Point area from 2018 to 2020; lead IT developer at Ashley Furniture Industries in Advance, North Carolina in 2017; DataMasters Java and .NET programming consultant for IT at Hanes Brands Inc. in the Greensboro–Winston-Salem–High Point area in 2016; Java developer for Tolt Solutions in High Point (remote) from 2015 to 2016; senior software engineer at DataMasters in the Greensboro–Winston-Salem area in 2015; software engineer and test developer at Kenexa, an IBM Company from 2013 to 2015; and software programmer and consultant (remote) for The Resource in Winston-Salem from 2014 to 2015.
A significant portion of Ms. Scott’s career was dedicated to higher education, serving as an Adjunct Continuing Education Professor at Forsyth Technical Community College in Winston-Salem from 2002 to 2013. In 2010, she created a customer relations management course that remains part of the college’s curriculum. The course teaches students how to compile information into databases, build database structures tailored for call center environments and manage operations efficiently. It also covers principles of communication while typing. Ms. Scott managed the course budget and successfully negotiated a substantial discount for Microsoft Access for the institution.
Her teaching experience includes ECPI University in Greensboro, where she served on full-time faculty as a web programming and concrete mathematics instructor from 2000 to 2002. She began her professional journey as an account development unit representative with American Express from 1993 to 1999, focusing on e-commerce solutions.
In addition to her work in technology and education, Ms. Scott has been a sole proprietor of Scott Music Studio since 2004, where she serves as a vocal coach. Her talents as a vocalist and voice teacher have enabled her to mentor students with diverse abilities. One notable achievement was guiding a young woman with Down syndrome through years of musical training, culminating in an hour-long recital of musical theater numbers. This milestone brought immense joy to both the student and the audience.
Ms. Scott is also chief technical officer, certified scrum product owner and agile coach at EScott IT Consulting since 2000, providing consulting services focused on Agile methodologies and cybersecurity best practices.
Her commitment to professional development is reflected through memberships with industry organizations such as OWASP and Agile Alliance. In music education, she has been affiliated with the Music Teachers National Association and the National Association of Teachers of Singing since 2007.
Ms. Scott’s academic background is extensive. She earned a post master’s certificate in music-vocal pedagogy from East Carolina University in Greenville in 2007; a master’s degree in computer science from College of Alameda in Alameda in 2002; a bachelor’s degree in music performance from Brigham Young University in Provo in 1988; and an associate degree in music from Yuba College in Marysville in 1986.
Her credentials include an AI for product owners certification from Scrum Alliance awarded in 2026; a certified scrum product owner designation from Scrum Alliance between 2021 and 2023; a Microsoft certified solutions developer certification from Microsoft achieved in 2001; and a MOUS-expert certification from Microsoft also earned in 2001.
Ms. Scott attributes her success to lessons learned from her father—maintaining a positive outlook, taking risks willingly and trusting others by recognizing their strengths. These values have enabled her to form strong connections throughout her career.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Ms. Scott has contributed musically as a vocalist and pianist for children’s groups within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as a grand musician, choir director, and pianist for The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She received a scholarship in musical theater from Brigham Young University.
