When he’s home, he oversees the operations of his farm, which serves as both a rescue sanctuary for animals and a developing heritage apple orchard spanning approximately 30 acres.
Mr. Terranova’s legal career is marked by his expertise in maritime law, where he has been recognized with various accolades, such as the Best of the Best Attorneys Top 10 Maritime Admiralty award in 2024 and the Recognition and Excellence in Maritime Law award from Lawyers of Distinction in 2020. As a commercial captain with a 100-ton license and a commercial fishing licensee, his interest in commercial fishing ventures allows him to enjoy being involved with the maritime world in various ways, enriching his legal experience and throughput. Prior to his move over to maritime and admiralty law, Mr. Terranova gained valuable litigation and transactional experience in various aspects of the law, including criminal, real estate, estate planning and construction law.
In addition to his legal pursuits, Mr. Terranova has ventured into entrepreneurship and is the founder of XPoll Labs Inc. (Xpoll.io) and Great Red, White, and Blue (GreatRWB.com). XPoll Labs is an innovation lab designed to nurture, develop and bring to market new and exciting ideas. Great Red, White, and Blue is a specialized Web 3.5 project that focuses on the American civic engagement marketplace, where it establishes a closed-loop economy that incentivizes civic participation in a gamified polling experience.
Mr. Terranova’s academic journey laid a strong foundation for his diverse career. He earned a Juris Doctor concentrating on maritime law from Roger Williams University School of Law and a Master of Marine Affairs in marine policy from the University of Rhode Island. His educational background also includes a Bachelor of Arts in small business management from the College of Business at the University of Rhode Island in 2005.
Mr. Terranova considers his most significant achievement to be learning how to establish metaphorical symmetry in communicating ideas and concepts across various interdisciplinary fields—a skill he credits to his education, which he views as one of the most meaningful parts of his early life. He especially cherishes his time at the Loomis Chaffee School, a transformative and enriching experience that prepared him to thrive in today’s fast-paced, results-driven world.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Terranova is deeply committed to civic engagement and community service. He often engages in pro bono work and contributes to the land and sea conservation communities. For fun, he enjoys traveling and reading as hobbies.
