His role involves leadership and innovation, as he has taken ownership of the company’s estimation models to drive adoption, creating a unique system for estimating large-scale implementation projects valued between $10 million and $500 million. This model boasts a remarkable margin of error of only ±10%, demonstrating Mr. Swindells’ commitment to precision and adaptability.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Swindells was practice director for Americas professional services at Guidewire Software from 2011 to 2019. During this period, he honed his skills in developing methodologies and tools that simplified processes and eased workloads for others. His dedication to improving systems was evident in his continuous refinement of estimation tools as the company’s technology evolved.

From 2001 to 2010, Mr. Swindells served as an engineering fellow at Progress Software Corporation. His tenure there was marked by significant contributions to software development, particularly in building frameworks for rapid application development. Notably, during his time in South Africa, he introduced a repository-based approach to code generation, which earned global recognition as the top platform worldwide.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Swindells was chief technology officer and group IT director at MIP in South Africa from 1997 to 2001. He was pivotal in creating software for industries such as medical aid and pension systems. His innovative approach included delivering a pension system within a year to a South African company struggling with an Oracle implementation. He offered a refund for any delays while retaining ownership rights to the developed system.

Mr. Swindells began his global professional journey as an overseas development manager at Cal Software Ltd in South Africa in 1997 after serving as a software architect at the same company in the UK from 1986 to 1996. These roles laid the foundation for his expertise in software architecture and development.

Academically, Mr. Swindells holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science obtained in 2004. He also earned a higher national certificate with distinction in computer studies from the University of Central Lancashire in 1990 and a BTEC National Certificate with distinction in business and finance from Runshaw College in 1988. His educational background has been instrumental in shaping his successful career trajectory.

In addition to his academic achievements, Mr. Swindells has obtained numerous certifications such as GenAI Essentials for Everyone from O’Reilly in 2025 and Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging from LinkedIn in 2020. These certifications reflect his commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

In his personal life, Mr. Swindells is an avid enthusiast of weight training, running, hiking and playing golf. He is also a devoted father to four daughters and one son.
