Five variants of the 13MP AR1335-based Falcon USB camera deliver the resolution, latency, and adaptability that autonomous robots, AGVs, collaborative arms, machine vision inspection lines, and AI-edge platforms demand, in a compact, driver-free UVC module.

FORT WORTH, TX / ACCESS Newswire / June 3, 2026 / Vadzo Imaging today announced the availability of the Falcon-1335 series for robotics and industrial automation applications, a family of five 13MP USB cameras built on the Onsemi AR1335 image sensor, engineered to bring high-resolution machine vision to autonomous systems, industrial inspection lines, collaborative robots, and AI-edge computing platforms.

Modern robotics and automation systems place demands on embedded cameras that consumer-grade modules cannot meet: consistent image quality across varying industrial lighting, sub-pixel precision for object detection and grasping, reliable trigger synchronization with motion controllers, and the flexibility to integrate across ROS, Linux, Windows, and proprietary edge AI stacks without driver overhead. The Falcon-1335 series addresses each of these requirements through a unified 13MP USB 3.2 Gen 1 platform spanning color, monochrome, autofocus, optical image stabilization, and NIR-sensitive variants.

All five models, the Falcon-1335CRA Autofocus USB camera, Falcon-1335CRS 4K Color USB camera, Falcon-1335CRO 13MP OIS Autofocus Camera, Falcon-1335MRS 13MP Monochrome USB camera, and Falcon-1335MRH Autofocus Mono USB camera, are UVC-compliant 13MP USB UVC cameras, enabling plug-and-play integration with ROS2, OpenCV, GStreamer, and standard V4L2 drivers on Linux-based robotics platforms. Native support for hardware trigger synchronization allows cameras to be fired in precise coordination with robot motion events, conveyor encoder pulses, or PLC signals.

The series supports 4K streaming, 1080p@60fps and 720p@60fps video output, digital pan-tilt-zoom, and iHDR across all variants, providing the frame rate and dynamic range needed for high-speed inspection lines and fast-moving robotic end effectors. The monochrome variants add NIR sensitivity and high SNR for structured light, time-of-flight assist, and low-ambient-light factory environments.

“Robotics integrators and machine vision engineers have long faced a painful trade-off between resolution, latency, and integration complexity,” said the product engineering team at Vadzo Imaging. “The Falcon-1335 series removes that trade-off, 13MP resolution, hardware trigger, UVC compliance, and NIR sensitivity in a single modular platform that works with ROS, OpenCV, and every major edge AI stack out of the box.”

Robotics & automation use cases

Collaborative robot vision – Falcon-1335CRA Autofocus USB Camera: Cobots performing bin picking, assembly verification, and part placement require cameras that maintain focus across varying object depths without manual adjustment. The Falcon-1335CRA’s VCM-based software-controlled autofocus dynamically tracks object distance in real time, while 13MP resolution provides the spatial detail needed for sub-millimeter component alignment. Hardware trigger synchronization fires the camera at precise motion waypoints, eliminating blur on moving arms. Customizable M12 lens mount and flex length allow integration into end-effector and wrist-mounted camera configurations.

AGV & mobile robot navigation – Falcon-1335CRA Autofocus USB Camera: Autonomous guided vehicles and mobile robots require wide-FOV cameras with reliable low-light performance for warehouse, factory floor, and outdoor navigation. The Falcon-1335CRA supports 74° and 127° DFOV lens options, 1080p@60fps live streaming for real-time SLAM and obstacle detection, iHDR for high-contrast environments (loading docks, mixed indoor-outdoor transitions), and software-controlled focus for obstacle distances that change dynamically. Digital PTZ enables virtual pan for wider environment coverage from a fixed mount.

Machine vision inspection – Falcon-1335CRS 4K Color USB camera: Inline surface inspection, dimensional measurement, and defect detection systems require the highest pixel density achievable in a USB form factor. The Falcon-1335CRS delivers 13MP 4K color imaging with hardware and software trigger synchronization to conveyor encoders and PLC signals, accurate color reproduction for color-based defect grading, and a customizable M12 lens mount for telecentric and narrow-FOV optics. UVC compliance enables direct integration with standard machine vision software stacks including Halcon, VisionPro, and OpenCV.

AI edge inference & deep learning – Falcon-1335MRS 13MP Mono USB camera: Edge AI platforms running object detection, pose estimation, and anomaly detection models benefit from cameras that maximize input resolution without USB driver overhead. The Falcon-1335MRS 13MP Monochrome USB camera streams high-SNR, low-noise grayscale frames directly into GPU inference pipelines on Jetson, RK3588, and x86 edge nodes via standard V4L2 or UVC interfaces. NIR sensitivity enables AI inference in near-dark factory environments using NIR illumination, eliminating visible-light interference on production floors.

Barcode, QR & OCR reading – Falcon-1335MRS 13MP Monochrome USB Camera: High-throughput logistics, warehouse automation, and traceability systems require cameras that decode dense 2D barcodes, QR codes, and Data Matrix codes at line speed. The Falcon-1335MRS combines 13MP resolution for small-code reading at distance, high SNR for contrast-limited labels, NIR sensitivity for invisible-ink and substrate-printed codes, and digital PTZ for virtual zoom on fixed-mount installations. HW trigger enables burst capture synchronized with conveyor motion for zero-miss scanning.

Wearable & head-mounted inspection – Falcon-1335CRO OIS Autofocus USB Camera: Maintenance technicians, field inspectors, and AR-assisted assembly workers need cameras that deliver stable video under head movement. The Falcon-1335CRO’s 9-axis optical image stabilization eliminates motion artifacts from walking and tool-use vibration, while 4K video, 1080p@60fps, digital PTZ, and iHDR deliver broadcast-quality documentation from a head-mounted form factor. Optional on-board recording and Wi-Fi streaming enable untethered operation, and VCM autofocus tracks varying focal distances in inspection workflows.

Lab automation & liquid handling – Falcon-1335MRH Software Controlled Focus Mono USB camera: Automated liquid handlers, plate readers, and robotic lab instruments require cameras that hold sharp focus across varying well plate depths and Z-axis positions. The Falcon-1335MRH’s VCM-based software-controlled autofocus compensates dynamically for Z-axis travel, maintaining focus without mechanical repositioning. High SNR and NIR sensitivity enable label-free imaging and fluorescence channel isolation. Barcode and QR code capture supports sample tracking workflows in fully automated lab environments.

UAV & drone inspection – Falcon-1335CRS USB camera & Falcon-1335MRS USB Camera: Drone-based infrastructure inspection, precision agriculture, and aerial survey platforms benefit from 13MP resolution for fine detail capture at altitude. The Falcon-1335CRS provides color imaging for visual inspection and damage assessment, while the Falcon-1335MRS adds NIR sensitivity for vegetation health mapping and thermal-assist applications. Both deliver hardware trigger for GPS-synchronized frame capture and UVC compliance for integration with companion computer stacks including Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, and Pixhawk-adjacent systems.

“From cobot end-effectors to AGV navigation, AI-edge inference, and inline inspection lines, the Falcon-1335 series gives robotics and automation engineers a single 13MP USB camera platform – UVC-compliant, hardware-trigger-ready, and tuned for every lighting condition a factory floor can produce.” – Product Engineering Team, Vadzo Imaging

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Falcon-1335 cameras compatible with ROS and ROS2?

Yes. All five Falcon-1335 models are UVC-compliant 13MP USB UVC cameras, which means they are natively supported by the standard usb_cam and libuvc ROS/ROS2 packages without proprietary drivers. They appear as standard V4L2 devices on Linux, making them compatible with all major robotics middleware stacks including ROS2 Humble, ROS Noetic, and custom OpenCV-based pipelines on Jetson, RK3588, and x86 edge platforms.

How does hardware trigger synchronization work?

The Falcon-1335 series supports a dedicated hardware trigger input that fires image capture on an external electrical signal – a rising or falling edge from a PLC, conveyor encoder, robot controller, or motion event output. This eliminates the latency and jitter of software-triggered capture, enabling frame-accurate synchronization with robot motion for blur-free inspection imaging at line speeds up to 60fps.

Which model is best for bin picking and robotic grasping applications?

The Falcon-1335CRA is the recommended model for bin picking and grasping. Its VCM-based software-controlled autofocus continuously tracks varying object depths in the bin without manual refocus, while 13MP resolution provides the spatial detail needed for sub-millimeter pose estimation. It supports wrist and end-effector mounting via customizable flex cable length and M12 lens configurations. For monochrome depth-map assist using structured light, the Falcon-1335MRS or Falcon-1335MRH with NIR sensitivity is the appropriate companion.

What frame rates does the Falcon-1335 series support for real-time robotics?

The Falcon-1335 series supports 4K streaming, 1080p@60fps, and 720p@60fps across all five models via USB 3.2 Gen 1. Digital pan-tilt-zoom is available across all streaming modes. For AGV and mobile robot navigation requiring maximum frame rate in reduced resolution, 720p@60fps provides the lowest latency streaming mode. iHDR operates across all resolutions and is particularly useful for robotics operating in high-contrast industrial lighting environments.
