San Diego, CA – “The Finding Papa Movie” documentary received three Awards of Excellence from the WRPN Women’s International Film Festival. The feature film, directed by Julianne Eggold and produced by Joelle Eggold Kohn, won in the Human Spirit Documentaries, the Student, and the Inspirational categories.
The film follows the sisters’ road trip journey through California to find answers after their father’s chaotic death twenty years ago. In the film, the women meet with experts in forensics, search and rescue, archaeology, psychology, and spirituality, plus those from their father’s past, and are faced with revelations and a very unexpected turn of events.
The filmmakers are very proud to have been given these awards and are grateful to WRPN, a film festival out of Delaware with an associated company, Roman Pictures. The WRPN awards can be viewed on “The Finding Papa Movie” IMDb page.
“We are very honored to be awarded along with other female filmmakers from all over the world in a variety of categories,” Julianne says. “Being a woman in the film industry is exciting right now as the paradigm in Hollywood is shifting. Women are being given better roles and opportunities, and with that comes more of a voice in the stories that are told and how we tell them. We appreciate all of the humans who are supporting our vision.”
“The categories of Human Spirit and Inspirational documentaries are especially rewarding as those elements are at the heart of our story,” says Joelle. “We really hope to reach an audience who can relate and has dealt with loss, to give more understanding, community, and hope.”
