Toronto, October 10, 2024-Proctortrack Canada by Verificient celebrates October’s 21st Annual Cybersecurity Awareness Month with a solid commitment to data privacy and security, complete compliance with PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) and FIPPA (Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act).
The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, or PIPEDA, is the legal framework under which private organizations are permitted to collect, use, and disclose personal information in Canada. PIPEDA compliance is important because it protects people’s privacy and promotes confidence in online transactions. This law guarantees ethical data handling while upholding people’s rights in a world increasingly focused on data.
The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) is a provincial law in Canada that regulates both the preservation of individual privacy and public access to official records. It protects people’s private information held by public institutions while enforcing transparency.
For Proctortrack users, both internal and external, Verificient Technologies Inc. created a special awareness campaign in 2020 called #CyberSecuritySmart. The program reminds individuals and businesses alike of digital security’s vital role in today’s interconnected world and the importance of protecting sensitive data.
Keeping in line with #CyberSecuritySmart, Proctortrack has always been proactive in its privacy and security-centric approach by meeting the following security and data compliance programs:
Canada: PIPEDA and FIPPA Certifications
USA: SOC2 Type 2, FERPA, and ADA Certifications
Europe: GDPR, Privacy Shield Certifications & BBB National Programs’ Data Privacy
Global: ISO-27001 Certification
“During Cybersecurity Awareness month, Proctortrack reaffirms its commitment to data privacy and security by complying with Canada’s PIPEDA and FIPPA. These frameworks are vital for fostering trust in digital transactions and ensuring responsible data management, which aligns with Proctortrack’s dedication to respecting Canadian’s individual rights in our increasingly data-centric landscape,” says Allan James, VP Executive, Proctortrack Canada.
