The IT recruitment consultancy indivHR has implemented a semantic sourcing model based on vector search in live customer projects – with measurable impact. In multiple mid-sized client engagements, the company achieved significantly higher interview rates with the same number of sourced candidates.
“Traditional Boolean strings and CV screening are no longer effective in IT recruiting – especially when targeting the most sought-after tech talent,” says Ilka Zeiner, Managing Director at indivHR.
“We’ve therefore evolved our sourcing approach: from keyword-matching to context-aware, semantic search. The data speaks for itself.”
Semantic search instead of keyword filters
Vector Search identifies meaningful technical similarities and contextual patterns – beyond static job titles or skills. This enables recruiters to discover candidates whose profiles may not exactly match a job spec, but demonstrate strong alignment based on career trajectory, project history, or adjacent technologies.
indivHR uses an internal AI model that transforms conventional job descriptions and CVs into multi-dimensional semantic spaces, allowing deeper matching with technical requirements.
Initial results from client projects:
+42% increase in interview rate for cloud engineering roles
Higher cultural fit in first-contact interactions
Shortlist delivery time reduced by 1.5 business days on average
These results are based on test deployments with cloud and DevOps roles for medium-sized companies in Germany and Austria.
AI-supported – but human-led
Despite the tech-heavy innovation, indivHR stresses that all final hiring decisions remain in human hands. The AI supports prioritization and insight generation – not automated filtering.
“Especially in the context of the EU AI Act, it’s critical to us: our system proposes – humans decide,” says Zeiner.
“We don’t use technology to automate recruiting, but to make it smarter, fairer, and faster.”
