“Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said.” Matt 28:5-6
San Diego – In our modern world with so much instant connection to everything it can be difficult to sit in silence and simply reflect. But as we prepare for Easter, I want to encourage you to do just that-take time each day this week to sit in silence and reflect on what Easter means for you, for your family, for your friends, and for the world.
We can only imagine how the silence of the grave must have resonated in the disciples’ hearts. They abandoned Christ in the garden and hid in fear. Their minds and hearts could not comprehend or reconcile what Jesus had said to them and what had happened to Him.
Could you?
The completion of the Holy Scriptures and the blessing of the Holy Spirit make it easier for us to see and understand the full story. However, the disciples had to sit in the stillness and silence of the days between Christ’s crucifixion and His resurrection. But what a sound when the tomb burst open, and the Lord of Hosts arose.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the central point in Christianity and the foundation of our faith. It is the core of the Gospel message. It’s what broke the silence of the grave, the hold death had on humanity, the despair Christ’s followers felt that weekend, and the separation every man, woman, and nation had from God.
Hallelujah, praise the Lord-Christ is risen!
There is such joy in the Resurrection! And much rejoicing is needed because no other Christian holiday or celebration matters without Easter. We have hope in eternal life because Christ died and rose again. He broke the barrier between God and man. He conquered the one thing that every human person will eventually face-death-and allowed us to join Him in resurrection to eternal life.
This week allow moments of silence to fill your heart and soul with the knowledge that He is risen. He has conquered death and is at the right hand of the Father. He is coming again to set everything right and anew, and He wants you to be with Him for all eternity.
Call on His name today, tomorrow, and forevermore. Let the same rejoicing that broke the silence for the disciples fill your heart and soul and then share that with the world.
He is King of kings and Lord of lords, and He is alive!
