From the Court to the Camera – Real-Life Friends Step Into the Spotlight Together
Hollywood, CA – July 18, 2025 – Known for his impressive talent on the basketball court, rising athlete Jonathan Trejo (JR) is now making his mark in a new arena – scripted television – as he makes his acting debut in the upcoming Hollywood series Monster On.
Written by Army Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) and Purple Heart recipient Steven Robert Alexander, and directed by multi-award-winning Greek-American filmmaker Eleftherios Kostans, the project is produced by acclaimed producer Diana Ramos-Santiago Carter.
Trejo’s first time on set was made even more special by the presence of his friend and fellow basketball player Toby Wayne Carter, an emerging young actor who also stars in the series. The two have shared the court many times, and now, for the first time, they’ve shared the screen.
For Carter, already a rising name in young Hollywood, having his close friend join him in front of the camera added a personal touch to the production experience. Their real-life friendship added authenticity and chemistry to their scenes, creating a dynamic that producers and directors were quick to praise. Trejo’s performance brings a fresh presence to the supernatural series and introduces a new face to watch.
