On 1 July 2025, the online event “Digital Achilles’ heels and how to protect them”, organized by the Gesellschaft für Arbeitsmethodik e. V. (GfA), took place. It was impressively demonstrated that many security gaps in companies are not only caused by technical issues, but are also largely due to human behavior. Excessive demands, routine, insecurity and emotional patterns can create attack surfaces that can be exploited by cyber criminals. Ermin Abazi could be won as a speaker.
A central point of the presentation was the realization that IT security requires both technological solutions and a deep understanding of psychological and behavioural factors. The innovative approach of behavior-based early warning systems, which are able to identify risks before they lead to damage, was highlighted. The ColdRead system presented analyzes not only technical data, but also conversational dynamics and cognitive patterns to identify potential attacks at an early stage. This proactive approach clearly stands out from conventional security solutions, which often only become active after a security incident has occurred.
In addition, ColdRead works agentlessly, which means that no software installation is required on end devices. This reduces the attack surface for hackers and significantly improves security. The combination of automated behavioral analysis and the expertise of specialized threat hunting teams demonstrates how man and machine can work together effectively to detect and prevent security incidents in a timely manner.
Another key aspect of the presentation was the importance of physical security technologies, in particular the use of quantum mechanics for tap-proof communication. QuantumTech, which is based on principles such as quantum entanglement and superposition, represents a future-proof alternative to traditional encryption, which could be vulnerable to attack by quantum computers.
The necessary balance between trust and control in modern organizations was also discussed. Trust is important for corporate culture, but must not be blind in order to avoid security risks. Technology should be used to secure trust and not simply replace it.
Prevention plays a crucial role: security starts with identifying vulnerabilities and risks, not just responding to incidents. Regular penetration tests and continuous awareness-raising among employees are essential to promote digital resilience.
Overall, the presentation provides a comprehensive picture of how digital Achilles’ heels – the often invisible weak points in the interaction between people and technology – can be identified and protected. The innovative technologies and strategies presented offer concrete approaches for the sustainable improvement of security in companies and for effectively combating future threats.
