Deshkal News and Russian state-owned news agency Sputnik signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen media cooperation between the two countries.
The signing ceremony was held virtually from the Deshkal News headquarters in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Sofia Kutepova, press attaché of the Russian Embassy to Bangladesh; George Latsuzbaya, deputy director of the Russian House in Dhaka; Waseq Billah Shoudha, executive editor of Deshkal News; A H M Nafis Imtiaz, head of marketing; Kamruzzaman Ronju, head of digital and multimedia; and Sifat Kabir, senior diplomatic correspondent of Deshkal News, were present.
Eliash Uddin Palash, in his remarks, recalled the long-standing friendship between Bangladesh and Russia.

He said the MoU reflects the shared values of truthful reporting, responsible journalism and global cultural understanding.
He added that Sputnik’s strong international presence and Deshkal News’ commitment to presenting a diverse and interconnected world would help strengthen professional cooperation.
“This MoU is not just a document-it is a platform for exchange programmes, co-produced stories, newsroom cooperation and greater media literacy. We are honoured to begin this journey together,” he said.
On behalf of Sputnik, Vasily Pushkov, director of the International Cooperation Department, signs the MoU.
He further said the cooperation aims to expand the quality of global reporting and promote balanced international narratives through content sharing, newsroom coordination and journalist knowledge exchange.
Sofia Kutepova congratulated Deshkal News and said Russia hopes the organisation will continue to deliver authentic information to the public.
George Latsuzbaya described the day as historic, noting it as the first-ever collaboration between a Bangladeshi and a Russian media institution.
At the signing ceremony, senior journalists and officials of Deshkal News are seen with the Russian delegates.
“We hope Deshkal News continues its work accurately and informs people with authentic information,” he said.
Following the signing ceremony, the Russian delegates visited the Deshkal News office and interacted with newsroom staff, including the news team.
