Orlando, FL – Sept 9, 2025 – In a true act of compassion and unity, several Central Florida businesses are coming together to provide a brand-new roof for a local man with autism who recently lost his mother-his lifelong caretaker-and is now facing life’s challenges alone.
The project began with a heartfelt phone call. Longtime Honest Abe Roofing customers Teresa Justice and Shelia Mannarelli reached out to Managing Partner Kyle Himes, saying: “This might sound crazy, but an autistic man we know just lost his mom. She had cared for him his whole life, and now he’s left with a roof in extremely poor condition, leaking everywhere. Is there any way we can get him help?”
Himes immediately brought the request to Vedad Velagic, owner of Honest Abe Roofing. Out of kindness and humility, Velagic initially asked that no publicity be made of it, simply wanting to do the right thing quietly. But Teresa, Shelia, and Himes all agreed this is a heart-loving story-one that people deserve to hear at a time when good news is often overshadowed by bad.
Without hesitation, Velagic committed Honest Abe Roofing to provide all labor, permitting, and project oversight free of charge. Himes then contacted his ABC Supply representative, Christian Clements, who secured approval from his supervisors to donate all the roofing materials. Soon after, Lobo Industries, LLC stepped up and agreed to provide waste removal services at no cost.
