Mufaddal Munim channels years of expertise into his work as a software engineer with Mastercard

After earning a Bachelor of Engineering in computer engineering from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya in 2007, Mr. Munim began his career as a software engineer – managed services with Telesoft Neutek Pvt Ltd. in 2008 where he collaborated on-site with the client in Jakarta to enable seamless software development and deployment. He expanded his professional knowledge in the following years after joining Tekmindz in late 2008. As a quality assurance engineer, Mr. Munim created small-scale automation frameworks and engaged in requirement analysis and test case designs.
Over the years, Mr. Munim furthered his industry knowledge, earning a certification through the International Software Testing Qualifications Board and honing his expertise with SQS-India (now Expleo). Between 2010 and 2014, he worked for the company as a test engineer, test analyst, and senior test analyst, developing new utilities and features for automation frameworks. Before obtaining his current role, he worked as a test lead for Tech Mahindra and as a senior software engineer for Mastercard. Backed by his considerable experience and knowledge, Mr. Munim excels as a lead software engineer with Mastercard.
Given his professional achievements, Mr. Munim has been honored many times, earning the Pat on the Back Award, an ACE Award from Tech Mahindra, and several group awards. He also received numerous rewards and recognitions from peers, including senior leadership, for his contributions during his Mastercard tenure in the past three years. This includes both project and voluntary contributions. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in successfully executing MDES, one of Mastercard’s key and complex initiatives. As part of MDES, he worked on multiple applications based on monolithic and microservices software architectures. He led quality engineering efforts to transform several MDES applications from a monolithic architecture to cloud-based microservices. This transformation was challenging, as a single monolithic application was split into several microservices, making end-to-end and integration testing and automation significantly more complex. However, the process was also highly rewarding. This transformation was critical for ensuring long-term scalability, performance, and maintainability. Working on MDES, specifically on these re-platforming efforts, provided him numerous learning opportunities and prospects for future growth.
Though hard work and dedication have brought him far, Mr. Munim credits his success to self-motivation, prioritizing quality over quantity, and a passion for learning, thriving, and challenging himself to achieve the best outcome. These foundational and core values paved the way for significant opportunities for him in multiple geographies before acquiring his current role at Mastercard. Within the next five years, he would like to take on senior leadership roles in software and quality engineering where he can help people reach their potential and build their careers by leveraging his technical and leadership skills and, at the same time, help organizations reach their technical goals.
