Affiliated with Walmart Global Tech since 2020, Mr. Athamakuri initially contributed as a staff software engineer, where he played a pivotal role in developing internal systems for various countries, including Mexico, Chile, South Africa, and Canada. Notably, when he and his team integrated the e-commerce platform in Mexico into Walmart Global Tech’s systems, the country’s order volume increased dramatically , a milestone he considers his most notable professional achievement. Mr. Athamakuri then moved into the role of senior engineering manager II from 2022 to 2025, where he continued to lead critical engineering initiatives that supported the company’s global expansion efforts.
Before joining Walmart Global Tech, Mr. Athamakuri was a technology specialist and then a director and technology specialist at Litmus7 Systems Consulting between 2013 and 2020. Earlier in his career, he worked as a senior software engineer at Sprint from 2012 to 2013 and as a senior programmer analyst at Global Tech Consultants Inc. during the same period. Mr. Athamakuri also contributed as an ATG consultant for Best Buy in 2012, where he provided expertise on advanced technology group platforms after earning foundational success as an analyst programmer at Wipro Technologies from 2008 to 2012, where he developed foundational skills in software development and project management that would underpin his future achievements.
Mr. Athamakuri’s academic background included earning a Bachelor of Technology in computer science and engineering from Andhra University in 2008. He also holds the Sun Certified Java Programmer certification, which has enhanced his technical proficiency throughout his career.
Throughout his career, Mr. Athamakuri has been recognized for his expertise and leadership through several appointments and honors. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a member of the Forbes Technology Council, and a fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers. Mr. Athamakuri has also served as a judge for hackathon at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
