In addition to his role at NexGen Insight, Mr. Tidwell founded, and is managing principal, of the algorithmic trading firm ClayParrot Capital LLC, which he founded in 2025. He further serves as founder and principal of E/CTRM delivery and systems transformation at ClayParrot Enterprises LLC, beginning in 2024. These concurrent leadership roles underscore his expertise in developing and implementing technology solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the commodities market.
Prior to these entrepreneurial ventures, Mr. Tidwell served as senior manager of business process quality and improvement from 2022 to 2024, initially at Hitachi Vantara LLC and subsequently at Hitachi Digital Services LLC following the corporate spin-off of his division. In these roles, he led initiatives focused on optimizing business processes and enhancing operational efficiency for large-scale organizations.
From 2017 to 2022, Mr. Tidwell served as managing consultant at capSpire, Inc. where he provided strategic guidance on enterprise software implementations for energy and commodity trading firms. His earlier tenure at Triple Point Technology (now ION Commodities) included roles as principal business analyst of agriculture product from 2014 to 2016 and as senior consultant and project manager from 2005 to 2014. Working alongside product management and engineers, Clayton was instrumental in delivering a go-live solution for physical coffee trading and logistics management within a system that had originally been developed for electricity and natural gas. This allowed the company to move further into the agricultural and softs commodity sector of the marketplace.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Tidwell worked as a consultant at SunGard from 2003 to 2004 and Caminus from 2000 to 2003, where he contributed to enterprise software projects for energy sector clients. He began his professional journey as a billing analyst at AT&T from 1999 to 2000.
Mr. Tidwell’s foundation in discipline and leadership was established during his military police service in the United States Marine Corps from 1986 to 1991. He credits this experience with instilling the fortitude that has driven his professional achievements.
Mr. Tidwell’s academic background includes earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in management information systems and energy management from the Michael F. Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma in Norman in 1998. The combination of technical knowledge gained through his studies and the discipline developed during his military service has been instrumental in shaping his approach to business challenges.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Tidwell has been an active member of the East Dallas Disc Golf Association since 2008, reflecting his passion for community engagement and recreation. His civic involvement extends to serving as board treasurer for the Copperfield Townhouse Homeowners Association from 2021 to 2025, volunteering with the Aging Mind Foundation and contributing time to the Gatesway Foundation.
In his personal life, Mr. Tidwell values time with family and enjoys playing disc golf and participating in high-end racing simulation activities. Looking ahead, he aims to expand NexGen Insight by recruiting young professionals from the local community, increasing revenue substantially while developing innovative solutions tailored to industry-specific challenges. His vision includes growing the consultancy firm with aspirations for comfortable retirement alongside his wife, with homes in Costa Rica, Colorado and Texas.
