A defining milestone of Ms. Bermudez’s tenure at DrumWave was her successful turnaround of the engineering organization upon her arrival. Within four months, she recruited several professionals with whom she had previously collaborated at various organizations and built strategic partnerships that led to contract-to-hire and contract employees joining the team. She restaffed most of the engineering organization, with the restructured team achieving significant growth and delivering substantial results.
Prior to joining DrumWave, Ms. Bermudez excelled as vice president of payment systems engineering at Change Health Care in San Mateo, California, from 2020 to 2023. Contributing to enhanced system reliability and innovative processes within the organization, she spearheaded engineering teams responsible for developing and maintaining the payment systems critical to health care operations.
From 2018 to 2020, Ms. Bermudez served as the senior director of software development at Carta, where she ran the engineering backend platform and infrastructure initiatives and was pivotal in scaling technology solutions for financial services. During her time at Carta, she also founded and led Women of Carta from 2019 to 2020, successfully expanding diversity and inclusion within the company.
Ms. Bermudez’s earlier experience includes nearly 15 years as a director of software development at PayPal and eBay from 2004 to 2018. Throughout her tenure, she re-designed and led most of the backend payments teams and directed large-scale software projects with eBay’s innovation team, New Product Development. She also served as president of eBay Women in Technology from 2014 to 2016 and started and led the technology mentoring program from 2008 to 2010, demonstrating her longstanding commitment to helping others and empowering women in the workplace.
In 2004, Ms. Bermudez held the position of payment systems manager at PaymentOne, where she managed payment infrastructure projects and integrated enterprise clients. From 2000 to 2003, she was the director of operations at Achex, having built a payments processing platform with a 99.999% availability standard. This platform was acquired by First Data for the Western Union product suite.
Outside of her primary roles, Ms. Bermudez also contributed her expertise as a board member and payments strategy advisor for CoinSpaze from 2022 to 2023, providing strategic guidance on cryptocurrency trading and payment technologies. Additionally, she was an executive in residence at Vonzos Partners from 2018 to 2019, during which she advised on technology investments and business growth strategies.
While making an impact on software operations at PayPal, Ms. Bermudez also pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor of Science in business management from Menlo College, graduating as valedictorian in 2008. To augment her technical qualifications, she obtained the Series 99 certification in 2020 and was certified in securities industry essentials in 2019, both by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) when she was involved in the building of the private equity exchange at Carta.

She served as a board member for Meritus, later merging with 10,000 Degrees, from 2016 to 2019, supporting scholarships and educational opportunities for first generation college students from low-income backgrounds.
