Mr. Alvin has established a distinguished career in software engineering and product development, marked by significant contributions to various organizations. Most recently, he served as the vice president of product operations at Intelligent Medical Objects (IMO) from 2023 to 2024. Affiliated with IMO since 2008, Mr. Alvin consistently demonstrated a remarkable work ethic, leading him to various promotions.
Before being named as vice president of product operations, Mr. Alvin held dual roles as the vice president of strategy and vice president of product strategy from 2021 to 2023. Between 2019 and 2021, he was vice president of product management. From 2016 to 2019 he was vice president of innovation platforms. Mr. Alvin’s tenure at IMO also included his role as the vice president of software engineering between 2011 and 2016. During this time, he led a team that designed a groundbreaking computer system for MEDITECH EMR sites, which notably increased the company’s revenue by $35 million annually. This achievement stands as one of his most notable accomplishments. Before this, he was the director of portal sales and business development from 2008 to 2011.
Mr. Alvin’s earlier career included serving as a consultant from 2007 to 2008 and as a director of professional services at Macrovision from 2004 to 2007. At InstallShield Corp, he was the vice president of professional services between 2002 and 2004, where he developed a methodology and workflow management system that attracted the attention of Microsoft. Among other noteworthy roles, Mr. Alvin worked for iXL Inc. as a senior vice president of operations from 1999 to 2000 and the vice president of engineering between 1994 and 1999. He began his entrepreneurial journey as the president of Monitoring Systems Inc, from 1989 to 1994, creating and patenting an underground gasoline tank leak detection system for environmental safety, after working as a software engineer at Union Carbide Corporation during the 1980s. During this time, he freelance-assisted a company by creating and programming a music digitizing and storage/playback system for radio station use, the first one was installed at a Chicago radio station.
Mr. Alvin’s educational background laid a strong foundation for his career achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Science in computer science in 1977 and a Master of Science in computer science in 1979 from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. In addition to his degrees, he presently holds an Agile software development methodology certificate.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Mr. Alvin is deeply interested in artificial intelligence (AI) and aims to become more involved in this field. He is investigating obtaining a certificate in AI with aspirations to assist companies in enhancing their capabilities and improving product launches.
