Spotbeam, an AI-first local growth companion for small and medium businesses, has launched publicly with a mission to give India’s 64 million MSMEs an AI copilot for visibility, traffic, and conversion across Google, WhatsApp, and social platforms. The platform connects with Google Business Profile, Meta and WhatsApp so that local businesses can respond to customers in real time, launch high-intent campaigns, and capture leads or orders on mobile-first storefronts-without agencies, developers, or multiple tools.

India’s MSME sector contributes roughly 29-30% of the country’s GDP and employs over 110 million people, making it one of the largest engines of jobs and regional growth. Yet, a recent BCG-FICCI report estimates that AI adoption across the 64 million-strong MSME base could unlock more than 500 billion dollars in economic value, provided tools become simpler, more accessible, and tailored to SME realities. Spotbeam positions itself squarely in this gap, as an AI-first business built around MSME workflows rather than retrofitting enterprise software for smaller teams.

The problem: fragmented digital growth for MSMEs
Most local businesses today rely on a patchwork of basic websites, Google listings, ad accounts, forms, and WhatsApp chats to manage their online presence. NITI Aayog and industry reports note that while MSMEs account for close to a third of GDP, they still struggle with digital infrastructure, awareness, and access to skilled talent needed to run modern, multi-channel marketing.

Parallel research on AI in Indian SMEs highlights strong optimism: tech-enabled MSMEs overwhelmingly acknowledge AI’s potential to drive growth and productivity, but adoption remains uneven due to complexity, costs, and lack of integrated solutions. The BCG-FICCI study further suggests that AI could handle 70-80% of routine tasks and up to half of reasoning-based tasks by 2026, if businesses adopt AI-first systems rather than treating AI as a bolt-on feature. All of this is surfaced inside a single dashboard, so owners and teams can see which reviews, posts, and campaigns are driving calls, visits, and leads in one place.

AI at the centre: from WhatsApp to reviews
A key differentiator for Spotbeam is its focus on WhatsApp and real-time messaging, which have become default channels for Indian consumers. Customers increasingly expect instant responses, but small teams cannot always reply in real time; Spotbeam’s AI agent acknowledges enquiries on WhatsApp as soon as they arrive, sets expectations, and keeps conversations moving so no lead goes cold.
