Indie rock band Is Official releases its debut album Brilliant today, December 1, 2025, now available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and others. The four-track record introduces the band’s vivid, reflective sound and includes the anthemic single “World Cup”, written for the 2026 Football World Cup.

The record features four tracks:
• Brilliant – A bold opening statement and the spiritual centerpiece of the album. An intimate, piano led intervention, Brilliant speaks to someone hiding behind walls, doubt and pain, unable to see their own worth. Verse by verse it names the damage, while the chorus keeps insisting on one simple truth: you’re already brilliant, with nothing left to prove.
• Things Change – A breakup in slow motion, “Things Change” moves from a last goodnight to a private collapse. Sleepless, trapped and out of range. It’s the sound of begging, burning out and finally accepting that love doesn’t stop just because things change.
• Just A Fantasy – A grunge-fueled confrontation with a toxic ego, “Just A Fantasy” hits like a bar fight in slow motion. The countdown “One (1) more to (2) my broken heart / three (3) times encore for (4) a broken man” turns the lyric into a rhythmic weapon, driving a track that shreds ego, exposes manipulation, and refuses to bow to anyone’s fantasy of control.
• World Cup – Written for the 2026 Football World Cup, “World Cup” channels the rush of global anticipation into an indie rock anthem. It captures the feeling of floodlights, last-minute goals, and the sense that, for ninety minutes, the whole world is in the same place.
“These songs started as a way to survive my own head,” says Leo. “For a long time I was the only one who ever heard them. Brilliant is us opening that door and letting other people in.”
The band sees Brilliant not as a conclusion, but as a clearing. “We didn’t lose ‘it,'” they say. “We cleared space for whatever deserves to be named.”

Brilliant: twenty years in the making
The story began two decades ago in a college dorm room, where songwriter Leo turned to lyrics and melodies to fill the silence, confront his fears, and process the chaos of growing up. For years, those songs lived in drawers and notebooks, resurfacing only when the guitar came out and the demons came back.
Twenty years later, what started as one person’s private world has grown into a band.
The band’s name reflects their approach. “‘Is Official’ is a sentence with a throne but no ruler,” the group explains. The subject is left open on purpose, so that, for a moment, a chorus can be official, a room of strangers can be official, that split second of electricity between notes can be official. The name is the frame; the night decides what goes inside.
When what shows up is undeniable, it isn’t just official. It’s brilliant.
