Hailing from a background chemical and biological engineering, Mr. Schlemmer currently serves as president of Bitcoin Bay Foundation in Tampa, where his leadership and vision continue to guide the organization’s mission to advance the adoption and understanding of Bitcoin. Widely recognized for his expertise in Bitcoin, he is praised for achieving a high level of mastery in a rapidly evolving modern field. Prior to assuming the presidency at Bitcoin Bay, Mr. Schlemmer was the executive director there from 2022 to 2023. During this period, he played a pivotal role in expanding the foundation’s outreach and educational initiatives, fostering partnerships and increasing public awareness about the benefits and applications of blockchain technology.
In addition to his work with Bitcoin Bay Foundation, Mr. Schlemmer is the executive director of the Florida Blockchain Business Association. Through this organization, he achieved his most notable milestone to date: passing the first legislation on anti-central bank digital currency in the United States. This legislative milestone, accomplished through his work with the Business Association, underscores his commitment to shaping policy and advocating for innovation within the financial technology sector.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Schlemmer worked as a materials engineer at Solchroma Technologies Inc. from 2019 to 2021. In this role, he contributed to advancements in display technology by applying his knowledge of materials science to develop innovative solutions for programmable ink displays. He began his tenure at Solchroma Technologies as an intern in 2018, gaining valuable hands-on experience in materials science that informed his later achievements in research and development.
While also pursuing a bachelor’s degree, Mr. Schlemmer served as a research assistant at Kaplan Labs at Tufts University from 2016 to 2018. During this time, he engaged in scientific research that involved advancing implant technologies with the long-term goal of replacing titanium implants.
Before venturing onto his path in the Bitcoin realm, Mr. Schlemmer earned a Bachelor of Science in chemical and biological engineering with concentrations in biotechnology and material science from Tufts University in 2019. This rigorous education equipped him with much of the technical expertise necessary for his subsequent roles in engineering and blockchain technology. To augment his qualifications in safety and technical proficiency, he was certified in bloodborne pathogens training and machine shop safety training and completed courses on chemical reactivity hazards, process safety and runaway reactions.
Outside of his primary role with Bitcoin Bay Foundation, Mr. Schlemmer is a member of the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce, where he engages with local business leaders to promote economic growth and technological advancement. Also known for his dedication to community service and nutrition, he is engaged with local organizations such as Metropolitan Ministries of Tampa and Homegrown Hillsborough at the University of Florida.
As a balance to his endeavors in the Bitcoin realm, Mr. Schlemmer maintains an active lifestyle by going to the gym and gardening during his personal time. Determined to further his impact in the coming years, he aspires for Bitcoin Bay Foundation to reach a level where it can operate independently of him and plans to move into a strategic consulting role as the next phase of his career.
