Onsemi AR0830 HyperLux™ LP-Powered 4K HDR USB Camera Delivers Ultra-Low Power Imaging with Wake-on-Motion for Edge AI and Embedded Vision Systems

FORT WORTH, TX / ACCESS Newswire / March 24, 2026 / Vadzo Imaging, a global provider of embedded vision cameras, today introduced the Falcon-830CRS, an 8MP 4K HDR USB 3.2 Gen 1 UVC camera built on the Onsemi AR0830 HyperLux™ LP sensor with an on-board high-performance ISP. Engineered for embedded vision systems operating within tight power budgets, the camera combines Line Interleaved HDR (LI-HDR), Enhanced Dynamic Range (eDR), enhanced NIR sensitivity, Wake-on-Motion (WoM), and intelligent power management, delivering consistent imaging for always-on and event-driven applications without increasing system power overhead.

The Falcon-830CRS integrates the AR0830 HyperLux™ LP sensor (1/2.9″ stacked BSI CMOS), which delivers the lowest power consumption among comparable sensor offerings in the industry. Its stacked BSI architecture enhances light capture efficiency while maintaining energy-efficient operation. The sensor supports multiple subsampling modes alongside functional modes including trigger and context switching, giving system designers precise control over capture timing, resolution, and bandwidth. Dynamic ROI capability further reduces processing load in bandwidth-constrained deployments. With GPIO support and a compact board architecture convertible from 38mm × 38mm to 32mm × 32mm, the Falcon-830CRS is designed for direct integration into space-constrained edge AI platforms, kiosks, AGVs, UAVs, and medical devices.

Key Capabilities of the Falcon-830CRS 8MP 4K HDR HyperLux™ USB 3.2 Gen 1 UVC Camera

HDR Imaging for Variable and High-Contrast Lighting – The Falcon-830CRS 4K HDR USB 3.2 Gen 1 Camera supports Line Interleaved HDR (LI-HDR) and Enhanced Dynamic Range (eDR) modes, enabling reliable image capture across environments with backlighting, shadows, and fluctuating illumination. By capturing and combining multiple exposure levels within a single frame, the camera preserves detail in both bright and dark regions.

Intelligent Power Management with Wake-on-Motion – The camera incorporates Wake-on-Motion (WoM) alongside sensor-level super low-power standby modes, enabling event-driven image capture. The sensor remains dormant until motion is detected, reducing processing overhead and overall system power consumption – a critical capability for battery-operated and continuously deployed systems. The AR0830 HyperLux™ LP sensor delivers the lowest power consumption among comparable sensor offerings in the industry, making the Falcon-830CRS well suited for always-on edge AI deployments where power budgets are a primary design constraint.

Enhanced NIR Sensitivity for Low-Light and IR-Assisted Environments – The AR0830 sensor delivers enhanced sensitivity at 850nm and 940nm wavelengths through its 1/2.9″ stacked BSI CMOS architecture with a 1.4µm × 1.4µm pixel. This enables stable imaging in IR-illuminated and low-ambient-light conditions, reducing dependence on high-intensity external lighting and broadening operational capability in indoor monitoring, night-time environments, and controlled illumination systems.

Plug-and-Play USB Integration for Faster Deployment – The Falcon-830CRS delivers 8MP (3840 × 2160) resolution at 30fps via a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C interface with full UVC compliance, supporting driverless operation across Windows, Linux, and Android platforms without custom driver development. Backward compatibility to USB 2.0 extends deployment flexibility across existing system architectures. The camera operates with a rolling shutter and meets UVC, RoHS 3, and REACH compliance standards, with an operating temperature range of -30°C to 70°C.

Compact and Flexible Board Architecture for Embedded Integration – The Falcon-830CRS Onsemi AR0830 4K HDR USB 3.2 Gen 1 UVC Camera features a 38mm × 38mm board convertible to 32mm × 32mm, weighing just 13g without lens, designed for direct integration into space-constrained embedded systems without mechanical redesign. GPIO support enables trigger and control connectivity. The S-Mount (M12) lens holder supports a default 74° DFOV with flexibility for application-specific optics, and the camera ships at a starting weight that makes it viable for UAV and handheld deployments where gram-level decisions matter.

“Many embedded vision systems today are limited by power constraints, especially in always-on and edge deployments,” said Alwin Vincent, Product Manager, Vadzo Imaging. “With the Falcon-830CRS, we are addressing this by combining HyperLux low-power sensor technology with simplified USB integration, enabling consistent HDR imaging without increasing system power overhead.”

VISPA ARC SDK for Developer Integration

The Falcon-830CRS is supported by the Vadzo VISPA ARC SDK, providing fine-grained control over streaming, ROI configuration, exposure, trigger synchronization, binning, and windowing. APIs are available for C, C++, C#, and Python across Windows, Linux, and embedded platforms, enabling faster development cycles and straightforward lifecycle management for OEM deployments.

Target Applications

Retail Analytics and In-Store Vision Systems – The Falcon-830CRS is well suited for retail analytics because its LI-HDR and eDR modes deliver consistent image capture across mixed overhead lighting and uneven shelf illumination without requiring controlled lighting setups. Retailers deploying in-store vision systems for product detection, shelf monitoring, and customer analytics benefit from the camera’s 8MP resolution and HDR capability, which maintains image consistency across aisles, shelving shadows, and varying ambient light zones throughout the day.

AGVs and Robotics – The Falcon-830CRS is designed for AGV and robotics deployments where vision systems must operate reliably within strict power budgets across variable ambient conditions. Wake-on-Motion (WoM) reduces power draw during idle periods by keeping the sensor in a super low-power state until motion is detected, while 4K HDR imaging enables precise detection of objects, surfaces, and navigation markers in warehouse and industrial environments. The compact 38mm × 38mm board and 13g weight make it straightforward to integrate into existing robotic architectures without significant mechanical redesign.

UAVs and Drones – The Falcon-830CRS is suited for UAV and drone applications because its 13g weight, ultra-low power consumption, and LI-HDR and eDR support deliver capable imaging without adding payload burden or requiring complex onboard power management. Aerial deployments that transition between bright outdoor environments and shadowed terrain benefit from the camera’s HDR modes, which preserve detail across high-contrast scenes in a single captured frame.

Medical and Pathology Devices – The Falcon-830CRS is appropriate for medical and pathology imaging systems because it delivers 8MP resolution with HDR imaging and enhanced NIR sensitivity in a compact, USB-powered module that integrates without custom driver development. Clinical and laboratory environments with variable illumination benefit from the camera’s consistent exposure control across LI-HDR and eDR modes, supporting applications such as pathology imaging, diagnostic capture, and patient monitoring where image accuracy directly affects clinical outcomes.

Kiosks and Digital Signage – The Falcon-830CRS is effective for kiosk-based identity verification, document scanning, and ticketing systems because its HDR modes and 8MP resolution improve OCR accuracy and recognition reliability across varying user positions and unpredictable ambient lighting. Wake-on-Motion further reduces power consumption during periods of inactivity, making it practical for always-on kiosk deployments with limited power availability.

Smart City and Surveillance Deployments – The Falcon-830CRS is suited for smart city and surveillance deployments because its enhanced NIR sensitivity at 850nm and 940nm enables effective imaging in IR-assisted and low-light conditions across day and night cycles. The camera’s low-power architecture supports continuous always-on monitoring without the energy overhead of conventional imaging solutions, making it viable for distributed outdoor and semi-outdoor deployments where power efficiency directly impacts infrastructure cost.

Edge AI and Embedded Platforms – The Falcon-830CRS is designed for edge AI systems because its dynamic ROI capability, combined with support for binning, windowing, and subsampling modes, allows developers to balance resolution, frame rate, and bandwidth based on the processing capacity of the host platform. This reduces load on edge compute hardware without sacrificing image quality.
